Water Heater - Gas Water Heaters Gas water heaters have several advantages over electric water heaters. For one, they are much more energy efficient than electric models. A gas water heater can heat up water at twice the speed as electric water heaters do, while the cost of heating is less than half of that of an electric unit. They also provide a greater water flow. The energy efficiency of gas water heaters can be increased by insulating the pipes and valves that are connected to the unit.
